2017 NSU Saxophone Festival The Mrs. H.D. Dear Sr. and Alice E. Dear School of Creative and Performing Arts will host the 2017 NSU Sax Fest Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, beginning at noon. Saxophone students will be able to participate in master classes with professional musicians, attend a recital and meet the guest artists.

El Nuevo Constante Traveling Exhibit Comes to Grand Ecore Visitor Center

In partnership with the Louisiana State Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, the Louisiana Division of Archaeology and the US Army Corps of Engineers, Cane River National Heritage Area, Inc. (CRNHA) will host the El Nuevo Constante Traveling Exhibit from May 7th – June 8th at the Grand Ecore Visitor Center.
El Nuevo Constante was a Spanish ship that wrecked near the Louisiana coast in 1766. In September of that year, a hurricane struck a fleet of Spanish merchant ships as they sailed from Mexico to Spain. One of the ships, El Nuevo Constante, nearly made it to shore before it sank in shallow water.

Wings Over Natchitoches Air Show The first Wings Over Natchitoches events will kick-off at the Natchitoches Regional Airport with a private Hangar Dinner and Twilight Air Show on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 6:00 p.m., with an airshow by the world-renowned AeroShell Acrobatic Team.

6th Annual Cane River Music Festival

The Cane River region has a rich tradition of live musical performance. The community was once home to numerous juke joints and dance halls, where farm workers could enjoy an evening of live Creole music, blues, jazz or early rock and roll. In honor of this tradition Cane River Creole National Historical Park will be hosting the 6th Annual Cane River Music Festival at Oakland Plantation on Saturday, May 9, 2015. This event is free to the public.
